What will you spend on the one you love this Valentines Day?
Each year American’s spend billions of dollars on Valentine’s Day. In 2009 14.7 billion dollars were spent on Valentine related gifts according to BIGresearch. For this upcoming year 2010 Americans are expected to spend even more.
Rather than giving gifts this year my husband and I decided to take a mini vacation to St George, UT for the Parade of Homes. Although I love flowers and going out to dinner I would rather have a vacation.
Since the economy has not officially recovered from 2009. How will you be spending your Valentines Day? Do you think the gifts are worth the money?

That is such a good question! This is mine and my husbands first married Valentines Day…I think we’ll just spend it watching movies all night! Not to be a downer but I am not a big fan of Valentines Day…I think it’s so overrated. I think it gives lazy people a day to do cute things just so they can be off the hook the rest of the year. Anyone with me?
I agree I hate that there is one day a year that people feel like they have to tell you they love you! Why put that type of pressure on people. The flowers are nice but I like to be surprised and get them when I am not expecting them it makes them see so much better : )
I like it cause I think most holidays are just fun to get into. But, I do think it’s sad people use it as a make-up day for the other 364 that they maybe didn’t say, “I care about you.” This year I’m taking all my siblings out for a pizza dinner so my parents can have some time to go out.
Ah, the joys of being single on V-day! I won’t be spending any money on anyone this year! Ha! It’ll be nice to not have to stress about buying “the right gift” for someone.
single or NOT i try to find someone to take out and be nice to them for ONE DAY!! ha ha ha ha…this year i am going to california and taking a friend to disneyland, dinner, and we’re going to go see Valentine’s Day:) SO EXCITED!!!!
ONE day?? what about anniversary, christmas, birthday, mothers day, and of course, martin luther king jr. day, hehe they all have the same expectations.
As much as I like flowers, I like just spending time with the person that you love rather than going all out. I think it’s nice to show affection but it does not have to cost money.
My spouse and I decided to skip the going out to dinner routine and buy something small that we both wanted. Our Valentines celebration will be playing Super Mario Brothers on the Wii. This way we can enjoy our gifts all year long instead of the dinner that only lasts about 2 hours!
Instead of going to dinner on valentines day, my wife and I decided to go to dinner on Thursday. Then we don’t have to fight any crowds.
