I am saving for my dress...even if the wedding dinner is served on paper plates I want to look lovely!
So I just opened up a 5year dedicated savings. It has the option of renewing if I am still not engaged by 2014:)
As someone who is currently planning a wedding and involved in an engagement let me just say how important it is to be open, honest, and direct in your communications, especially about finances.

A really important thing I have learned is to make sure that both of you know where your money is going. Like someone said before. Don't keep secrets. Tell each other when you have bought something. Talk to each other about what you buy and how much you can spend.

guys take my advice. if you cant pay for a ring in cash dont buy it. it's not wise to already be in debt before you are even married.
Me and my husband saved a lot before we got married. I was able to use my savings to help us into our first apartment, buy a mattress and a washer and dryer. It was awesome.
Your wedding is a very expensive day. But Life is more expensive. It is important to plan for it. My father in law made me watch a financial video before we got married :-)
My husband and I decided to share everything from day one. It's been a HUGE stress reliever, as we keep each other in check on spending, and we both know where we stand financially.
